International Conference on “Preservation and Sustainable Development of Village Culture Landscape”

 “Cultural landscapes represent the combined works of nature and man.” Village cultural landscape is the common memory shaped by agricultural civilization and nature,which is a symbol of local identities,and accumulate the history of regional social development. Those unique cultural ecology and cultural forms have been threatening by superficial protection and commercialized development.Therefore, in order to foster “Conservation of Traditional Village Cultural Landscape”. Guizhou Provincial Administration of Cultural Heritage work together with Peking University and Tongji University to undertake “A Research on Village Cultural Landscape Conservation and Village Development” ,which is from aspects of the contents of village cultural landscape, threats faced, desirable conservation measures, development methods and patterns.
In order to discuss theories and practical significances of the conservation of village cultural landscape with overseas and domestic experts and scholars of cultural heritage conservation, supported by State Administration of Cultural Heritage and UNESCO, Guizhou Provincial Department of Culture, Peking University and Tongji University jointly launch “The International Academic Symposium of Conservation and Sustainable Development of Village Cultural Landscape, Guizhou, China”. The symposium will discuss values and significances of village cultural landscape, conservation techniques, sustainable development modes and case studies. It is hoped that this symposium will provide practical and valuable suggestions for the conservation of village cultural landscape.
We warmly welcome experts and scholars dedicating cultural heritage conservation, research and administration to participate in the symposium and related government departments and international institutions which are involved in cultural heritage conservation are also welcome.
